Wow! That was beautiful. Thank you for enlightening me. I had no idea. Why don't we get all the fishing boats that fish the ocean to hook all of their nets together and haul in all the trash.

Yes please, and with mexican white cheese, baby spinach, and a bit of garlic.
But, I'd like to stand outside and witness you preparing and cooking the omelet, too. That's "emergence" with a consciousness.
Science and Spirituality are racing head-on towards each other. Hurray! What an incredible time we all are experiencing on the planet Right Now!
I know I'm off the "main point" of your good essay. But that's what I got out of it.
   Thanks, Guy.

Guy

that was excellent!

"we've already broken the eggs, might as well cook up the omelet." Yup. Couldn't agree more.

5gyres are friends of mine, and I also work with the plastic pollution coalition. all santa monica based peeps btw.

also, blue ocean institute, the guy who runs that wrote an amazing book called, song for a blue ocean, you may want to check it out, his name is carl safina.

what you said about the 5 gyres is right, although we don't know the size of all of them, that is what is so cool about the project 5 gyres, they are studying each one in turn. but...the north pacific trash gyre is twice the size of the continental united states. and instead of a solid island of floating trash, although that is an effective image, the trash gyres are more like plastic soup with large chucks in them. algalita foundation in log beach, shows samples of the water from there. and the weirdest part is that the smallest bits are the most destructive. the solution is to stop the trash from going into the ocean in the first place. like charles moore, head of algalita, and the first guy to stumble upon the north pacific gyre said on the colbert report recently when asked, "Can't we just scoop it up?" He said, "No, it would be like bailing out the bathtub with the water still turned on full blast. here in is part of the preparation for the omelet.
